An excellent piece, summarizing many of my fears about the potential troubles of a family/work life balance in the future. The truth is, mothers can’t have it all. (Mothers, not women, because men and women can have it all if children are not on your wishlist at all) So it’s much more accurate to say that mothers ‘can’t have it all’. But in that vein, neither can fathers - it’s just the implicit assumption that if you’re a man, it’s alright if you see your children less because you’re busy working. It’s not about - or it shouldn’t be about - women working rather than staying at home - it’s more about the fact that parents flat out DON’T have time to spend with their children AND work and achieve a full career - people can’t have it all. They can’t.
